Re: {Chrysler 300} 4 Post Lift

Thanks for the info Nick. I have actually been researching lifts for awhile and think I’ve settled on a Wildfire lift. I called Advantage and they only had Backyard Buddies in stock. My home will be completed in February and I’m ordering mine around that time.

I have a Wildfire lift I bought 6 years ago.  It's been great and trouble free.  I looked at a lot of them and decided they had a safer design than most of the others at a good price point.  4 Post Car Lift | Four Post Car Lifts for Home & Pro Garages – Wildfire Lifts

It went together well and I put it up by myself without any help, using a cherry picker to lift the heavy stuff.

A couple suggestions (for any lift) are to figure out the footprint and overhead clearance before you buy.  I actually did some chalk outlines on the floor as I had limited room.   Also, if you need to rent a truck to pick it up at a shipping depot,  U-Haul trucks include the over cab section in their length and a 15' truck is really only ~12' long on the floor so you'll want a larger truck. IIRC, mine just fit in the 20' I rented.

This was one of the better things I ever bought for working on cars.  I've used my creeper only once or twice since I bought the lift.  Mechanical work aside, the first time you are waxing your car and you can bring the car up to take care of the lower section and wheels, you'll wonder why you didn't buy one years ago!

Hope this helps,
John

Misspoke earlier. The used lift I bought this year is a Backyard Buddy lift. Same design as the Advantage and Wildfire but a lighter duty version. It's only holding up my ram 300K body right now.

I have three four post lifts from Advantage lifts. Two I bought new in 2018 and one I bought earlier this year used. Wildfire lifts are a similar construction and have some advantages over Advantage.

The key for me was fully square posts with a box that sides up and down the posts. This is the most stable design in my opinion.

If you find a used lift, you can move it assembled with a car trailer.

Good evening!

I’ve been considering a four post lift in the corner of my shop. Wondered if anyone in the group has experiences good or bad. It appears there are countless Internet suppliers and don’t want to go down a road I’ll regret with no support etc if something wrong.

Any info appreciated.
