We took the 300K to our place 80 miles from San Francisco a couple of days ago.  Been hot up here over 100F. Killing us in that I am still working on the A/C.

This morning at 5:30 AM with the ambient temperature at 63F we went rolling down the highway to get breakfast. I noticed that the temperature gauge was staying in the middle of the "cold" arc on the gauge. It is normally about 1/3 on the "running" arc of the temperature gauge.

I pulled of when I could at a gas station and took a look. Nothing seemed amiss. The car did not "small" hot. No hissing.  I popped the radiator cap and got very little pressure blowing by so it was not acting like it was boiling over. It was low a bit on water but since I do not have a recovery tank that is normal.

I pilled the temp wire from under the A/C compressor and the gauge dropped to zero.  The gas gauge is fine. The LED on the digital voltage limiter was flashing so it is not that.

I have one of those "fancy" fail open thermostat's in the car. I wonder if it failed open, so the car is running cold.

I checked the dip stick and no water showing up on it.  I did a heater hose off last week. An air pocket?

Scratching my head. Anyone have any other ideas?

James
