RE: {Chrysler 300} Quick tire size question

Over the last year I have been running 215-75R-14 Hankook tires on new Wheel Vintiques 14-inch steel wheels. No issues, drive fine.

This last week I switched over to a set of Aluminum 15-inch wheels and Hankook 215-75R-15 tires. No issues with those so far but it has only been a week.

They make the same tire in a 225-75R-15 as well.

In my case for daily driving, I wanted the lowest rolling resistance and wind profile I could get and still have ok traction. That is why I went with the 215 as opposed to the 225.

Now I just need to figure out what to do with a set of relatively new 14-inch wheels and tires.

Hi Dave,

The factory equivalent size, in radial form, is 235R75/14. These are not currently available.

As Dave Dumais emailed me this morning, the brand new Coker radials that he had ordered and that were promised him by June are still not available.

The next best radial size is the slightly smaller 225R75/14, available from 2 sources. There's Diamondback - www.dbtires.com. Their various tire offerings are manufactured in different countries, including China and South Korea. Several of our Club members have been running these, and are happy with them. This past Saturday, I visited with Marilyn Reed at Mopars at the Red Barns at the Gilmore Car Museum, who just had these mounted a month ago on the 300-F coupe she and her late husband, Mike Reed have owned for 45 years. Marilyn said her F "drives like a dream" with these new tires.

A second source for the 225R75/14 tires is Kontio - that I understand are engineered in Finland and manufactured in China. Some of our Club members are running these and are reportedly happy with them.

You can click on the 'archives' link attached to this email and read the recent emails discussing these various tires. Kontios are I think less expensive than Diamondbacks.

Looking forward to seeing you in Omaha!

Noel

I am shopping tires for our Polar Blue F in preparation to attend the fall meet in Omaha.

Thanks folks!
