Re: {Chrysler 300} Alternator removal

That little pipe / spacer thing is tricky , I did not understand it slides in the aluminum tab(!) at   high force ( a press fit ) to get zero play .
Kind of cool design , not obvious that it does move if need be ! Why it appears to fit so tight after taking up the lash
Figured it out when I could not get one in … it seemed too big (!) . Tapped little pipe in with small hammer  , all set

I am trying to remove the alternator from my G ('64 version) and replace it with a '61 version that I just had rebuilt.  The trouble is I cannot remove the current alternator.

The bottom bracket will not allow me to just lift it off.  I noticed that the '61 has a sleeve in the alternator screw hole facing the firewall.  Just wondering if this is causing it not to come off.  Is there a "trick" to get this alternator off?

Thanks....John
