Following is just observation , looking for more info ?
i read on the HAMB that a starter  from a mid 90’s Dakota truck fits all
later mopars , probably post 62 requiring only cutting the copper cable stud which hits the block  on some engines  , And may fit earlier

I think all these variants listed involve slight changes in clocking , block casting interference etc but that the nose of the starter and gear mesh is possibly the same . Makes sense in a way in that starter mounting is to torqueflight not engine . So it meshes with converter gear . There were various designs and electrical power , and getting the weak one happens . 57 dodge stick fits 392 cannot crank it hot Been there . .And there are two “ strengths” of 392 “fit 0k” with solenoid on top that are slightly different length ? Long one stronger ? Dodge has solenoid on firewall
The consensus of the group on HAMB was that the dakota starter had no problems with 600” B blocks etc but fit A blocks too and was physically small , avoiding header issues for them . And it was cheap on rock auto .
I bought one but have not finished car to that point , to try it ( 440 ) ,727  “ let’s see” type thing . But Dakota is A block , so fits those too , goes to 54 up hemi etc
The one posted about here is no doubt terrific and I would go that way as a sure thing .
But this other path is of interest too .

Does anyone know about this ?

There was a discussion of slightly different flywheel tooth count by one individual , maybe in context of stick flywheel who said “ It’s wrong according to tooth count , but works fine (!!!!!) .
fyi … ymmv

This is the one I'm using on my 300F and other cars.

You do have to grind on the adapter ring a bit in one spot and put on longer cables.

Hello all I got the G running and driving!  Finally.

It is very hard to start when hot, the starter barley turns the motor over.  Cranks fine cold, and I just put in a new group 27 battery.

It feels like the starter is tired.

Is there a high torque starter that will bolt onto the bellhousing?  I’m running the cast iron torqueflite.

Any recommendations?

Thanks Mike
