RE: {Chrysler 300} Clean the vinyl on your car with lemons

Good idea Gary.  Worth a try.

Like I said, it seemed to get some ingrained marks out of the convertible roof that I hadn’t got out before.  The roof is at either 30 years old when the car was converted to right hand drive and restored, or may even be original, so it has gathered a “patina”, ha!

Lemons obviously have citric acid, but also sugar and oils so maybe the combination works?  Don’t know.

The Mustang came with 24 year old Pirelli 1” stripe WW tyres that were still white after all that time.  They weren’t made anymore and decent brands were ridiculous prices so I thought I would try cheap Chinese APlus WWs.  The white started to go brown within a year and are now an even dark brown colour.  They actual are good tyres for tread, grip etc but if you buy them, put the WW on the inside!  Lemon juice won’t fix them....

There is a local guy who advertises he will paint on a white wall stripe but I don’t know if that is a permanent fix.  Has anyone had any luck with that type of thing?

I thought I would pass on this video that popped up on my YouTube browsing.  I don’t know how YouTube knows what I am thinking https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBgoPFhHMFA

A few weeks ago we took out the 65 Mustang and lifting the car cover showed mould stains on the white convertible roof.  I haven’t had much luck cleaning the vinyl with various products before so I was a bit peeved.

Anyway, after watching the video today I took a few lemons off our tree and found it works just as described.  It even lifted some of the marks in the folds that I haven’t been able to get out before.  I also used a microfiber cloth the rub into the grain and seams and finished off with a wet rag.  Maybe this will be of use to some of you.

Might have to get another car cover that breathes better...  The car is in a covered garage but we have had unusually hot and wet weather for months.  Humid air must be getting trapped between the cover and roof.

Cheers
