I have used LED bulbs in 3 different cars now.
Regarding he flasher. The original flasher needs some resistance in the circuit to work, so, for example, two of my cars have turn indicators on the dash and on top of the fenders. I used the OE flasher for those cars. If you were to replace the dash indicators with LED bulbs, you may need to buy a LED specific flasher with a ground, or you may be able to add some resistors to the wiring to increase resistance and therefore use the OE flasher.
Basically, what I did was try it with the OE flasher and if it worked, it was good. If it didn't, then I went to an LED flasher with a ground wire.
I even put an LED bulb in the front parking lights/turn signals that lights white for parking lights and amber when it flashes.
