Hello 300Land,
I bought TWO of these fine Reproduction Power Steering Hoses from John Begian who was thoughtful enough to have these for sale in CA when we all saw Jay Leno's Garage! One of these saved me this weekend when we fired up 'TWIN FIN' our Beloved D Coupe to move it to the front of my building so we could easily load it onto a Trailer for a trip to Kansas! (There is a new Museum there in Salina that I support and they asked to have our D there for a Display all this summer/thru Labor Day Weekend.) We backed it out of the building and let it idle while putting other cars back in "ala Rubix Cube shuffle!" LOL! When I notice whitish smoke rolling out from under the front bumper! I think I cursed before I panicked, but discovered our P/S Hose had slipped off from the top of the steering box; sprayed P/S Fluid all over the valve covers, Brake Booster, etc. etc. hence the white smoke!
The new hose fixed this issue in short order but my question is; apparently the P/S hose is slightly different in a '58 vs. '57 correct?? (The bends in the metal tubing that goes into the P/S Reservoir appear at a different angle, BUT it fit fine and looks OK...)
Anyone else used one on a '58 as well? (I'd like to buy another one now that I'm down to only 1 on the shelf!) John Begian can you bring one/some to our Kokomo Meet IF you have any left please? (SORRY 'Twin Fin' won't be there; but I'm trying to follow Noel's example of spreading the awareness of our Letter Cars and what better way than to allow a museum to display one all summer long in the MidWest! I'll send some Club Applications along w/ our car for sure! )
