Hi Rick,

I don’t know about the electrical superiority of alternators relative to generators, but I have also heard that alternators are better for some reason.  But if switching to an alternator becomes more difficult than rebuilding the generator, I just wanted to give some encouragement that the generators are fairly easily rebuilt, as I understand it.

The existing generator would need to be rebuilt or replaced and I have an alternator. I know there are differing opinions but I believe an alternator is preferred. Why would all manufacturers discontinue generators for alternators in the early 60's if they were superior?
