James If you are going to retain the original flare fittings on your R12 system, you might want to look into using inexpensive soft copper gaskets that are available on Amazon. Flare fittings are notorious for being leakers and I’ve had to fight
it and keep using up more of my R12. So I bought some of these copper flare fitting gaskets, but have not yet installed them. Hopefully they will seal the system better.
