hi ,onmain fuse , add a “limiter wire “ where harness draws its power at starter relay . That protects main circuit . Workmanship is critical on that joint ; I don’t trust yellow crimp it comes with unless you have commercial tools . Too much current for a poorly done crimp with cheap too that flatten a crimpWhat it is is a narrowed down section of wire that will melt first before the large copper in main circuit . Normally a smaller wire than standard would get hot ( it is only 4” long) so they enclose it in very high temp silicone tube . It can get warm inside without ill effects , but if too much flows it melts inside silicone without drama . You could not do that with plastic wire .They are sold primarily for Fords in two sizes , use larger one intended for Lincoln etc ., ; there is no need for added fuses anywhere else beyond factory . Watch out at kick panel, wires cut on sharp edges . protect edges .on NYer , main harnesses are essentially identical . The power window harnesses are completely different in body and sort of add on . ( due to seat layout / console in 300)maybe you can use PW part of NY er / 300 main one ? don’t change unless really really needed ( burned up ?) fix old if not burned or engine side damage .Doing it without pulling dash must be impossible , i havedone 2-3 F with dash out . That is very hard to get wires where they need to be physically dressed under dash . Not a job for faint of heart , or old of years.Sent from my iPhoneOn Feb 26, 2024, at 8:08 PM, John Egert <jegert930@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:I have a 1960 New Yorker and I had called them last year and they said they did not make a wiring harness for my car. Your wiring situation is a fire waiting to happen. The car should not be driven until the harness is fully replaced.

All,
Thank you for the advice and recommendations!
I am a bit hesitant to start this job since I do not plan to pull the dash; perhaps spot repairing is the best course of action at the moment (?). However, the visible wires are in very poor condition. They appear to be rubber coated and the insulation crumbles easily... the cotton covers basically turn to dust when handled. Below is a picture of the wiring block on the core support. Not much color left for ID either.
This B is not optioned up (no pwr seats, no pwr windows, no AC), which should make it a bit easier. But if I do order a harness, I'll try to get every last wire on the car.

John,
The name you were looking for who did the 300C looms is club member Greg Lettatt who lives in Canada. He did one for me used in our 300C. The quality was and is great, but I think Greg retired from that project many years ago.

When I restored my 57C, there was a club member who was doing an excellent job with reproducing the wiring harnesses for that year, but I don't think he is still making them anymore. Can't remember the name as it was around 20 years ago. Man, is time ever flying by. I used the Rhode Island outfit in the 90's when I did my 55 C-300, and it worked fine. Both cars were being completely taken apart, so it was easy to do the dash wiring with the dashes out of the cars. I don't really want to even think about having to do the G convertible underdash wiring harness, or the harness for my Hurst, especially if trying to do them with the dash still in the car and an old man's eyesight and dexterity. Yikes!

I have not used these folks in the past, but I did keep their website in my bookmarks. They say they can restore or reman ones original harness.

Hi Club,
There has been a rash of wiring related fires in the classic car circles that I associate with, so I figure it's time to stop tempting fate.
I found a few recos in the ForwardLook discussion forums, but I can't seem to figure out how to search the 300 listserver archives. The two outfits I've found so far are:
YnZ's Yesterday's Parts
Rhode Island Wiring Service Inc.
Does anyone have first hand experience with either of these vendors, or are there other recommendations? I do not have a "show" car, but I'd like something that is plug-n-play (mostly) and something that looks more/less original (cloth covers). Please let me know!
