Hi Danny and Club
Just got my copy of this book and it definitely looks like a good read as I scan it!
I will say, however, that being a native New Yorker and lifelong architecture junkie, I was disappointed that there was no mention of the Chrysler Building, especially since it figured into Chrysler’s ads in magazines such as National Geographic, etc in the very early ‘30’s and is a revered architectural treasure.
I have a number of books about the skyscraper race in Manhattan in the late ‘20’s and early ‘30’s and to my personal disappointment when I read one of them years ago (perhaps “Higher”? ) I learned that Walter P. had stiffed William Van Alen, the architect on what is generally considered one of the most iconic of Art Deco buildings in the world.
We love our Mopars and the history of the corporation, warts and all, but that slight to Van Alen is black eye on the founder.
Perhaps the author, Charles Hyde, wanted to focus strictly on the business end of things, which he seems to have done well here.

Keith-
Read "Riding The Roller Coaster" history of Chrysler by Charles Hyde. Very good early history of the company. Thanks to Pete Kearing for telling me about it.
Yes, what you read there is true. And think about it. While all those corporate convulsions played out in the boardroom and even local country clubs Chrysler somehow managed to convert nearly all its plants and cars to unit body construction, introduced an all new compact car, an all new aluminum automatic (A904) and an all new 6 cylinder engine.
All that and a stockholder revolt and executive infighting.
Given the tumultuous history of the Tex Colbert era it is hard to imagine how the company spit out such wonderful cars as the 60 and 61 F & G. Bob Roger and company must have been well insulated from the noise.

Folks
Sorry if this old news to many of you but I was not aware of all the questionable financial behavior and infighting at the top of Chrysler during this time (beyond Engel replacing Virgil and the misguided downsizing of the ‘62 Dodge and Plymouth lines due to misinterpreted hearsay.)
I also had never heard of the prominent attorney Sol Dann before
Happy 2024! Keith
