Rich, Bob, and others, It is a conundrum. I was going to order a new set of seven from Eaton. They show both a 6 and 7 leaf for a 300K depending on if it was RAM or not. Like I said, nothing else in the HD suspension package as far as I can tell.
I may try and see if I can clean on either side of the clamp plate and find a part number for the spring. Often I see it under the plate…. James From: 'James Douglas' via Chrysler 300 Club International <chrysler-300-club-international@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
Hi All, I took of a rear drum for the first time on this car. Does not look bad. While I had it off and was laying on my back, I counted the leaf’s on the springs. What caught my attention was that the rear has SEVEN leaf’s and not six. My recollection and the Eaton Website show those to be the heavy-duty springs.
I do not see that reflected in the build sheet. I have every reason to think that these springs have never been replaced, however one can never be sure. They have all the factory style clamps on the spring and the leaf’s have all the groove
stamping along them. This car DID not have a sway bar on it. I have one to put on.
Has anyone ever seen this in a 1964 300K?
