Re: {Chrysler 300} Stoplight Switch

Just went through this. Had to abandon the Harley Davidson hydraulic switch I installed in a T cause it failed. I'm using silicone DOT 5. I installed a mechanical switch as John described.

Evidently the hydraulic switch has no wiping action to stay clean and the nature of the contact poles being slowly brought together invites arcing. Somehow the DOT 5 exacerbates the pitting and non self cleaning contact design.  John may have told us this or I learned of it elsewhere.  Can't remember.

Tell this to my 63 Galaxie whose hydraulic switch I replaced once in 20 years or 60 Buick with its original 60,000 mile switch. Both cars on non silicone DOT 3.

Hi

add microswitch to pedal under dash , easy to do with later mopar parts or use V3 style microswitch with long arm . easy to figure out mount bracket of 3/32 or 1/8”
x 1” steel strap
silicone fluid  does hurt many hydraulic switch designs ( they vary) fixes that too . same two wires extend to new place . Old lines have a tee to front wheels line to rear not there anymore could redo o hold switch
at that port , but mechanical way better
