Hi that might be a really good idea for say an inch at lead in end initially to help guide the initial press in .And keep it square But the press fit is what keeps it from turning , the rubber is a spring in rotation . I think the tool is inadequate to overcome the excessive interference , but a hydraulic press , 20 or 50 ton in a machine shop WILL press it in . With lead in slot . Another way to look at it . I would try that first . One might also think of a reamer in machine shop to open it up . After all , it is never coming apart again —ever .
