Re: {Chrysler 300} 300F non A/C Radiator Tag?

Hi All,

I had the same fate after a recore- the place lost my nice original tag, and threw up their arms when I asked them to find it(presumably in their boil out tank).
I was lucky enough to find an original tag from
a New Yorker with the same radiator. The guy wouldn't part with just the tag, so I bought the whole radiator. I wasn't too upset by this, as I now have something to recore when I need it and just drop in. When I got it delivered, I unsoldered it, and carefully sweat it onto mine while still in the car...easy to do. I just drained 1/2 the coolant, and the heat did not get sinked too fast through the tank. The paint was easy to touch up.
If I had to recore again, I'd be sure to unsolder the tag and keep it safe before sending the tanks out.

I also have a radiator with that number tag missing. Most likely gone during a past repair, but who knows.

I've been looking at some different options. It appears to be made from thin brass and soldered in place. I haven't found a good way of embossing the numbers yet. With the numbers stamped from the backside, that adds to the challenge because the numbers are now reversed.

It's kind of on the back burner right now so I haven't thought much more about it.

Seems like there should be some vendor out there that could do this, but I haven't located one.

Folks

Since I’m going to be replacing the hoses and clamps et al on our F, was thinking if I should bring the radiator to a shop to see if they could also solder in a complete plate on the top tank, if anyone is doing these “non VIN” plates? .

This is what is on there now and although I assume it is the original radiator, I can’t be sure as I don’t know what the numbering was on these plates and credits were always shifting

Any input would be appreciated!

Keith
