RE: {Chrysler 300} Battery Switch and Mystery Switch

Be careful with the green knob. Those can and eventually do fail. They pass all current through a conductor far smaller than the battery post & cable. When not sufficiently tight they burn until finally make a bad connection. Usually failure is at crank, and tightening fixes it until it burns away again. A similar device with a black knob is sold and said to be better than the green knob variety.

Best advice: Keep a half inch wrench on the floor behind the driver’s seat. Disconnect the negative cable when garaged.

I have used the "green" knob switches for over 40 years. Never a problem. Remember to always "switch" the "ground " side of the battery regardless of what polarity the car uses.

Zach,

I haven’t tried the ones Marshall recommended but these are also an option, have had good results so far with this type, they sell them at Napa.

These are the disconnects that I use on my cars. IMHO they look much better than any other style.

Zach,

It sounds like the one toggle switch is for your power antenna and the second one has been added for something else.  Possibly and electric fuel pump.  Regarding a battery master cut off switch I use a unit offered by Wurth.  Here is a link for that:  Battery Disconnect Top Post Knife Blade Master Switch for Car RV Truck Vehicle | eBay

Hello,

Does anyone know of a good battery switch. I would like to stop taking off the terminals when the car is in the garage. I found a few but I am unsure if they are any good.

Also I have a 300B and there are two switches in the dash that I am not 100% sure what they do. They are located to the left of the knob used to reset the trip odometer. The one I am pretty sure one is for the antenna(currently it’s not working so I can’t check) but the one further away only toggles left and back to center. Any insight as to what it does.

Thanks

Zach Hietsch
