The problem was in our C300 while I was working with the top-mounted sending unit. I had tarpaper strips between straps and tank that got a little gas on them and bled. I never noted deterioration. Good insulation for wear means poor ground conductance so ran a wire from sender top flange to a frame spot. Rich B. Rubber seems like it would trap moisture. Have you experienced tar paper coming apart due to gas spills? Danny Plotkin -----Original Message----- If any gasoline slops onto the tarpaper, the tar will be dissolved out and make a mess. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Rich B. I saw on one generic website that original type tar paper is now replaced by a thin rubber sheet. Hopefully something I can get from a hardware store or the like. I would like to ensure there is no chance of promoting rusting of the tank or floor.
