Back space is a critical component of a wheel's dimensions and if it will work.

You can have several 15x7 wheels that all have different backspaces. Some will work on the car, and some will not. 

You stated that, " We have 15x7 “Dodge Police Wheels” (they have vents like Chevy Corvette Rallye wheels) on our 300K and there are no issues". But over the years the police wheels came in various backspaces.

That advise is meaningless without knowing the back space you have. If the back space is wrong a wheel will may not work.  

The backspace is measured by laying the wheel flat and placing a straight edge across the rear of the wheel. Then measuring from the lower side of the straight edge to the bolt face of the wheel.

The stock 1964 14-inch wheels used a 4 inch backspace if I remember correctly.

The back space sets the centerline of the wheel with reference to the bolt face. By changing the backspace, the wheel will set deeper or shallower.
