Re: {Chrysler 300} Gary Goers Leathers

I, too, have a decades old Goer's interior in my G convertible, and it is still looking good, especially since being a convertible with the top down most of the time during car show season, it's been in lots of sun and UV exposure.
I used Leatherique on some of my old Jensen Interceptor interiors back in the day, but I have not tried it on the Goer's seat covers as I'm a bit afraid of possibly removing the dye.  Surface dyed leathers might not tolerate it as well as 'fully' dyed leathers (like the Jensen had).  I've used a variety of leather moisturizers, cleaners, and conditioners over the years.
Now that I'm in Texas with even more intense sun, I have also used a UV protectant called Formula 303 on my vinyl surfaces like my original dash pad, arm rests, convertible top boot, etc.

I have still have some Leatherique Oil that I’ve used on the F and our K and other leather interiors over the years in our cars (the big bottle I have is about 30 years old.)

George Cone told me about this product when I went to his house in Wisconsin to buy a set of 15” G/H/J wheel covers in the fall of 1976 and he said he used it to rejuvenate the interior of his H convertible. At that point , I don’t believe Gary was doing interiors so there was no option beyond using the “Leatherique Process”.

When I bought the bottle that I still use (1991 or so), I called the company to not only order it but to ask what was so special about it since it was way more $$ than Lexol, Neatsfoot, etc.

They told me that they take fresh cowhides and literally squeeze them with a powerful industrial Vice-like machine to extract all of the essential native oils out of them for the rejuvenator oil.

Since that seemed to be as good as anyone could want, I was sold….

Leatherique...the stuff I was using was not an oil, but more of a protein/ collagen product...Best stuff around...I think it's still available

Hi Folks

Just a quick editorial: our F has one of Gary’s interiors that my friend and member Lou Amsler installed around 1982 or 1983.

I don’t think it was kept oiled in all the years between when I sold it and when I bought it back (2003 and 2021) but it is still in amazing shape (I have been oiling it a lot since I got it back.)

I had an H in 1976 and at that point (it was only 14 years old) the leather was having serious issues so I don’t know what alchemy Gary used buy clearly it worked!
