{Chrysler 300} Non Ram to Ram conversion: 300K?

Hi Folks

Dominic Rinaldi has finished the complete rebuild/enhancement of George Riehl’s “Killer K” 413 and it will be installed the end of this month. I have a short Ram setup to go onto the engine at the same time (cast iron J/K headers are already on the car) and I’m rolling the dice that the drivers side manifold will squeak by the nose of the existing master cylinder.

Assuming it does, I wanted to know if anyone has converted a non ram car (maybe even a K) to rams and what they learned? The ram setup I have only has the linkage from the vertical bellcrank to the carbs and nothing ram-specific behind that bell crank. In looking at the ‘64 parts manual, it looks like there were a bunch of ram-specific pieces between the gas pedal and that vertical bellcrank in the middle of the rams.

I think I see a way to modify the firewall mounted bellcrank to position the rod to the carbs more centrally (vs the left side bias of the single 4 barrel setup) but not sure if there’s anything else intricate that would unequivocally need to be obtained or fabricated? The one positive thing in all of this is that since the car is a 4 speed, I don’t have to worry about the Torqueflite kickdown linkage.

I also do not have the centrally positioned anti-stall dash pot. I see how that works on our automatic choked F but I don’t know if this will be an issue with the manual choked 3505 AFB’s or just require extra finessing at startup? I’m guessing that ideally it should have one of these.

Any input would be appreciated, both in terms of personal experience and also parts, including linkage pieces and that dashpot w/bracket (or even a part # for that piece since I can’t find it in the parts manual) that you may have to sell that will aid in the conversion.

Thanks in advance,

Keith

PS: If I can’t all this to work, we’ll use a stock 440HP 4 barrel intake and a single 750 Carter or Edelbrock AFB. I have modified an aftermarket air cleaner base so that the smallish black factory air cleaner will fit on the bigger carb and it will all appear pretty much stock, cast iron headers notwithstanding.
