All J’s are rare; however, this one is NOT factory original as stated in the listing seen here: 1963 Chrysler 300 Series | eBay A 4 speed stick was NOT available for 63, it was introduced for 64, and his car has been converted. A 3 speed stick was available in 63, only 7 were built, none are known to exist. Could this have originally been a 3 speed stick? Without a VIN we do not know. That said, seller states it has a 3.23 rear. Stick J’s came with a 3.91 rear. So NOT likely to have been a stick car from the factory. On the other hand, seller doesn’t know s**t about 300Js, so it would be good if someone gets the VIN, then we could check the microfilm. Converting from TorqueFlite to 4 speed stick is possible, the late Lynn Dunsworth did that to his J, but with a 3.23 rear the car bogged down from a start. Bob Merritt converted a K to a 4 speed = tons of work. The carpet in this car has been replaced, work on trans hump could be hidden under carpet. The AM/FM radio is rare, only 10 Js so equipped, but this car likely did NOT have this radio from the factory. The AM/FM radio was not available with the rear power antenna; so this radio likely a transplant from a 64 (63 and 64 AM/FM radios have identical front face, but different chassis/circuits). No such thing as a 415hp max wedge engine in a J. This was done as part of the engine rebuild. Carl From: Darrin Bailey Interesting 300J (Black) currently on EBAY. Appears from Washington State with CA Black Tags and a 4 speed. Says original w/ 68k and stored since the 70's.
