Hi All,
Out of San Francisco in the country working on the 300K. Getting close to running it for the first time since I did a very short test drive when I purchased it.
We will see what work I did that works fine and what still has issues.
One thing this week was I found a man in the area parting out a 1964 New Yorker. I picked up the rear end hub to hub. While I was there, I noted that the steering box had a cooler hanging off of it. I picked up the cooler and a factory power steering
pressure hose with the correct steel ends on it. I have a plan to weld some fitting to those ends and the reducer in the middle and use AN hose with them.
I also noted that it had a sway bar. I picked it up with all the brackets and nuts/bolts with the 708 and 708 torsion bars. I also got the strut rods with it as those are needed for the sway bar.
The 708 and 709 Torsion bars when cleaned on my wire wheel showed 0.982 or 0.983 inch at 45F in the shop.
I need to measure the torsion bars on the car to see what size they are.
I ended up adding three Blue Sea Systems MIDI fuse blocks to deal with the MOPAR firewall plug and wires issues. I ran a #6 wire from the alternator to the starter relay with a fuse block (100 AMP) in that line. I also pulled the #12 black wire from the
harness between the alternator and the connector. I have it labeled in a bag. I took the #12 red wire and ran it to an “adaptor” then ran it through the second fuse block. The #12 black wire got a tap from the #6 and it too runs through a fuse block. I used
some #12 wires I scavenged from a yard from the connector to the fuses. This entire conversion can be undone in less that an hour by myself or some future owner. I also back up both #12 wires from the fuses to the back of the AMP gauge with #10 SXL Cross-Linked
Polyethylene.
New water pump, new Alt, new seals in the power steering pump, all new PS hoses, new heater and rad hoses, new fuel hoses. Rebuilt radiator and heater core. Rebuilt vacuum switch, rebuilt heater control valve. New filter in transmission. New tie rod ends
and rebuilt idle arm. Many connections cleaned and sprayed with DeOx.
Rebuilt Carter AFB and rebuilt correct distributer. New fan clutch and a blasted and painted correct fan. All new belts.
With the engine off there is too much slop in the wheel. I will adjust the steering box after I get it running.

The man with the 1964 New Yorker still has some parts like the doors the most sheet metal. Not much trim or bumpers. If anyone is interested email me directly and I will forward to his info.
Best all, James
