Responding to Dyke Ridgley's question re F/G decal placement on the 2 air cleaners -

• Each air cleaner does have a decal.
• The decals are positioned such that the decal on the right (passenger) air cleaner faces the front of the car with the indent of the air cleaner cap facing rear to clear the firewall plenum, as the air cleaner itself is positioned forward and inward from the carb.
• The left (driver) air cleaner is positioned differently, as it is also positioned forward and inward from the carb, so the decal by default is not facing toward the front of the car.

I also recently had the following exchange with Don Verity about the two wingnuts on the air cleaners - 1 holds the air cleaner together, the other fastens the air cleaner to the carb.

On the F & G air cleaners, a question on the 2 wing nuts on each air cleaner -

• • I know the wing nut on the stud that holds the air cleaner together is painted gold.
  • Is the wing nut that holds the air cleaner to the carb painted gold or is it unpainted silver? My understanding is that this 2nd nut is unpainted, but I could well be wrong.
