Hi two issues , see forwardlookparts for a safety kit to back up second latch , hood is known to blow right through both of them Unobtainable piece ,that hood, dents roof and smashed windshield . = Accident!! Don’t drive on second one ever , shaking hood in wind will workthrough latch , hood opens . 2) don’t know about 59 specifically but pull wire break a common problem on 60 , there are several different designs out there in 60 mopar tee handle shaft size trying to fix it . I have fixed 60 , sometimes you have to shorten T handle maybe 1/2” to get rid of the factory crimp deformation . Then drill a hole dead center in dash end of tee maybe 1/2” in , just slightly larger than cable od . Shine the cable spotless , use flux and solder it in . You may find pull wire is then too short , as it breaks at other end too . I have bought 6 foot universal manual choke kit to get a new pull cable , it is cheap , took apart to get the wire . Be careful most of those are only 4 feet not long enough . 6 foot is out there . But sometimes the wire itself is thicker ( better!) but won’t fit in chrysler spring sheath . Have to adapt choke sheath then to dash end or find “ piano wire” same od as stock wire was . It was marginal , stock , it breaks off at crimp in tee. Pulling it just holds back the spring loaded catch , that catches the pin —that should work with no cable , but can’t open hood , obviously . Pin alone was not reliable at high speeds . It pulls through both stock latches, Nothing to do with pull release action .
