{Chrysler 300} RE: 300K Recommendations for Carpet, Seat Foam and Skins

Thanks everyone for the recommendations.

I had hoped in the 30 years since I did the restorations on the 300K hardtop and convertible that actual molded carpet sets were being made. According to my information, 30 years ago, the company that made the carpet for Chrysler, in the Carolina’s if I remember correctly, went out of business and before anyone noticed the molds were sold for scrap.

We had to buy loop carpet with the hard plastic backing and do a LOT of work to get it to fit correctly. What I am hearing from the comments is that the ACC carpet does not actually fit the pans and will need a lot of work. I had hoped to just sew in the original heal pads, cut the high beam switch hole and trim a couple of edges. Not have to go into carpet restoration mode.

Same with the seat skins and foams.

If the stuff really is not ready and I have to book with my concourse upholster, which is months out, then I may as well just do an all-custom interior as this car is to be driven daily.

I will call the people that took over from Gary who supplied a lot for me in the 1985-1990 time frame.

We had given some thought to doing the interior as a two tone with black hogs hair carpet and black leather seats. But I checked with Chris Hirsh and the company that made the hogs hair is out of business. That was great wool carpet.

Back to the drawing boards, I guess…

James

Subject: {Chrysler 300} 300K Recommendations for Carpet, Seat Foam and Skins

I am going to order a carpet set, seat foam and vinyl seat skins for the 300K. If they made them in tan leather, I would do that. I know the factory only black and white. I don’t want to spend the time having custom leather skins made.

I know that Auto Custom Carpet (ACC) makes most of the carpets that everyone sells. However, if folks know of another supplier that has better molded carpet, please let me know.

Legendary sells the skins and the foam. Again, if someone know of another supplier with better products let me know.  Also, if Legendary is not the manufacturer of the foam or the skins and someone knows who is the manufacturer, I would like to know that as well.

Plan on ordering on Monday.

Thanks all for the help.  James
