W. R. Shadoff of Streamliner fame showed up at Bonneville in 1962 with a brand new Chrysler 300-H right off his Pomona Chrysler-Plymouth dealership floor (plus a few mods). Running in Class B Supercharged Coupe and Sedan, the 413” Chrysler had a little breathing added courtesy of a supercharger. The intakes in the headlights and the bulges on the hood said this one was loaded for bear. W. R. was running on the Andy Granatelli-Paxton Products record set in ’61 at 180.049 mph. He cruised through the traps at a speed of 186.91 mph for first in class a tick above Norm Thatcher in his 482” Dodge at 186.33 mph in second. After a record shootout, Thatcher grabbed a new record at 189.826 mph. Sorry, Mr. Shadoff.

Dear Webmaster, 

I have a question.  A friend of mine, years ago, acquired a 300K that appeared to have been modified to run on the Bonneville Salt Flats. It was a short Ram Car with triangler cutouts between & above the headlights.  Then air intake hoses to the carbs. Anyone aware of this? Any details on the car? Thanks
