If that was the case look at no. 3 wire from the spark plug. It is not where no. 3 should go on the cap.. At the cap I noted where no. 3 should be following the fire order. The other wire labeled no. 3 is the other end
of the wire coming from the spark plug.

Did they drive the car up to the auction block ? How could it ever run ? I am looking at the wires coming from the distributor cap and it looks like they are all mixed
up.
It certainly does not look like 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 in a counterclockwise direction.
