Re: {Chrysler 300} Accidental Clyde

Congratulations ! What a way to spend the virus shutdown.
Can't go anywhere, so might as well restore  a fantastic car!!!
Please try to bring it to the Spring Meet in Greenville.
Time well spent, Ray Jones

Richard,

How serendipitous!   Your G looks great, 2-1/2 years is very fast to restore a 300G.  Once you get the brakes sorted, you can take it out for some spirited driving, hope to see it one day.

Subject: {Chrysler 300} Accidental Clyde

So I wanted to share my story. 2 1/2 years ago while logging onto RM Sotheby’s action site to bid on a 63 Corvette ( I did not win} I inadvertantly and unaware, bid on and won a Chrysler 300G. Monday after the action I was notified of my purchase. My first reaction was that it was a scam and I contacted Sotheby’s to report it. After many emails and conversations and a few weeks later my “new” car arrived. Clyde was in need of a total restoration. Clyde gave me a purpose for the next 2 1/2 years. After removing all the trim interior and engine,  I hand stripped (aviation Paint Remover), repaired rust while removing and repairing many prior “repairs”. I followed this with 2k primer and single stage paint in original Alaskan White. I sent the engine out for restoration while I started the interior work. Materials from Quirey”s, sent the bumpers to be re-chromed. Sourced polished or repaired most of the damaged trim while I sorting and rebuilding the instruments and electrical. Got the whitewalls from Coker.

This past weekend drove it around the block. I am sorting the brakes now. Thank a look.
