Re: {Chrysler 300} 1960 383 Heat riser

Thanks guys.  Simply disconnected the spring on the heat riser and it then seems to default to open vice closed.

Here is the part number of the rubber trunk mat.   I know it doesn’t help for the F but anyway maybe the cardboard and jack location is like the F…

The 300F had a carpeted trunk like the New Yorker. Looks like your mat is in great shape. The last one of those I touched was in my friend's '61 Belvedere and it crumbled. Had it long enough to make a pattern but every time I touched it, it fell apart more. I wonder if there isn't some treatment you can apply to keep it pliable. Certainly not Armor All. That stuff is terrible for rubber parts.

Hello 300 friends,

Wondering if anyone knows how to tell what position is “open” on the heat riser.  On our 60 (Windsor) it doesn’t seem to change and I’d like to make sure it’s open not closed.  It moves freely, and still has the spring attached, but doesn’t move much on its own. I may temporarily wire it open, if you can tell by the counterweight when it’s open….?

Also for the 60 trunk photos, I don’t know if it’s the same on the F but it sure looks like our trunk is original (photo attached).  The rubber mat even has the mopar symbol.  Can send more photos if helpful…
