Hello!
Adding a few comments to John Begian's earlier email, while he's out enjoying the Mopar Nationals in Columbus, Ohio! -
- We've indeed arranged for Dave Coston to come to Auburn Hills to shoot and produce another Letter Car DVD, as he did back in 2005-2006. We've certainly enjoyed watching his first DVD, "The 300 Project," shot at the Walter P Chrysler Museum at our Spring 2005 Detroit Meet.
In connection with his production of this 2nd DVD, Dave asks that you fill out his [attached] 'Pre-Interview Data Sheet' and email it to him not later than 9/10/21. Dave's email is on his form.
We really encourage you to participate in this project and share your Letter Car depth of knowledge and interesting stories! We'll be doing this at our Meet's Saturday Car Show.
2. As you've seen, looking through our Meet Registration Form, John has assembled a terrific slate of events that you are most certain to enjoy.
-
- The highly rated Ford Piquette Plant Tour is in the preserved building Henry Ford began building his Model T, pre-assembly line.
- The Chrysler Historical Tour needs no introduction. No longer at the Chrysler Museum, which now houses Chrysler offices for some of its foreign brands, the Historical Collection is located at the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant, purchased in 1995 by Chrysler to produce its Viper. John drew on his internal connections at Chrysler and arranged this special visit for us, not available to the general public. While the collection's display at the former WPC Museum exhibited about 70 cars, John tells us that this historic collection at Conner Avenue totals about 150 exhibited cars. And, Chrysler has graciously offered our tour at $0 cost. This alone should convince you to join us at our Meet!
- The Stahls' Automotive Foundation Museum of Michigan Tour will surely be yet another highlight. The Museum is packed full of iconic classic cars. And, if you're not familiar, this past March the Museum purchased at auction the 3rd of the 3 operating Chrysler Turbine Cars, as well as the spare turbine powerplant. Another of our Club members is involved with this Museum and is looking to have Ted Stahl personally welcome us there and discuss his collection, depending on Mr. Stahl's schedule. Another rare opportunity!
- John has mapped out a Road Rally for our 300s, following lunch on Friday. He's assured me that running this course will be fun, but also use up a few of our brain cells.
- John promises that the Detroit River dinner cruise will be an enjoyable event at which we can enjoy the sights as well as mingling with each other. Included in the dinner price is bus transportation to/from the cruise dock from our host hotel.
- Concours judging is scheduled for Saturday morning at our host hotel. There's still room, if you'd like to submit your Letter Car for our Club's judging scrutiny! See the Registration Form for advance details.
- As John emailed earlier today, our Saturday Car Show will be held at the Hub Restaurant, in conjunction with the Mid-Michigan Mopar. Those of you who attended our Blacksburg, VA Meet will recall our Car Show partnered with the local Mopar Club in Roanoke, and it was a fun event. And, as John mentions, The Hub Stadium (Hub Restaurant) does indeed offer axe throwing. For more information check out www.thehubstadium.com.
- All this will be followed by our Awards Dinner at the nearby Lafayette Grande Banquet Facility, serving a buffet dinner.
Our Host Hotel, Auburn Hills Marriott, has extended its reservations deadline to August 26th, offering our 300 Club attendees their favorable room rates for folks booking by this date.
Looking at our Registration Forms received to date, I'm confident our Auburn Hills Meet attendance will exceed the 104 attendees who enjoyed our Fall 2016 Meet at Elkhart Lake! We've had a terrific response so far.
If you've never attended one of our Club Meets before, Auburn Hills will be a wonderful First Meet for you to experience, whether you've been a Club member for decades, or recently joined! Back 13 years ago, I considered driving my F up to Carlton and Barb Schroeders' Eagle River Spring '08 Meet, but didn't. I still regret that. I haven't missed a Meet since our Branson Fall '09 Meet, and have enjoyed every single one. Don't hesitate! Fill out the Registration Form, book a room, and join us!
And, Please!, if you at all can, bring your 300 to our Meet. Check the fluids, inflate the tires, check your spare, throw a few backup supplies in your trunk, test the brakes, dust off the cobwebs, Rain-X the windshield, gas it up, and drive it to Auburn Hills! After all, these Beautiful Brutes were built to be driven, and are in their element cruising on the open road!
We welcome all of you to join us for our Club's 50th Birthday Party! Send in your Registration Forms and join us!

Hi All:
Just a couple of updates on the 50th anniversary Fall Meet.
First, we have extended the special room rate until August 26th. So if you are coming to the Meet you can still reserve a room at the special rates for our club.
Second. David Costan will be attending. Bob did a great video on our cars some years back. He will be doing another video on our cars at this meet. For those bringing a car, please author a short story about your car so you can be interviewed and be part of this upcoming production.
Third, we are still looking for some missing letters for the show. We are missing g the following:
B
D
E
J
If you are coming and have one of these letter cars please bring it. Let me know if you have any questions.
Lastly., we will have the car show Saturday at the Hub restaurant, in conjunction with the Mid Michigan Mopars. The Hub is a unique restaurant and bar, and had a section for are throwing. Yes, this is true.
So keep those reservations coming in. Thanks to everyone for your support
Looking forward to seeing everyone in September!
John Begian
