I have installed a few seat cover sets and yes, I always had to cut the new foam like the old foam was cut. You need to cut the foam to be able to bring the metal rods inserted in the new seat cover cloth slot down towards the seat spring to tie them down...Foam
doesn't need to be cut all the way thru but close...
