Keith; had the same issue, almost.  The nut-bar mechanic mishandled the manifold when installing new exhaust system (let the piping, resonators and mufflers ‘hang’ on the exhaust manifold while he was fitting everything together). I was later told that the manifold flanges just can’t take the weight and the jostling about.  Took a celebrity cast welder to re fashion the ‘ear’ and solve the problem.  I think that’s the long term fix.
