not critical as long as below 35-40 k ohms . End to end . or less . varies with manufacturer and not critical , and not necessarily the same per foot within a set . 

main issue is high readings due to pulling off plugs by the wire , breaks the internal fragile conductor right near plug end . will read very high . never pull by the wire grab the hood around plug . not always easy . 

silicone grease makes it easy next time and seals hood to insulator too .
