About 5 years ago I bought reproduction seat upholstery and replacement seat foam from Legendary for my early '65 production Plymouth Barracuda which I have owned continuously since it was new in October '64.  The seat foam appeared to be too thick and supple to be used without some trimming which I had been led to believe would be necessary.  I turned that upholstery work over to a friend of mine who is a professional in that business with a great deal of experience in working with both leather and vinyl.  He told me that trimming of the foam would not likely be necessary and he was correct.
 
When finished the seats look to me to be exactly as they were when the car was new.  The covers are tight, no sagging, folding, or soft spots exist anywhere.  I do believe that the cushions I received were somewhat universal, so I urge a careful study by a professional installer to be  certain that trimming of the cushion is absolutely necessary before it is done.  I think that unnecessary trimming can cause poor fit and an unsightly seat repair job.

Hi-
We are removing the brittle crumbling seat foam from a set of seats and are wondering if anyone has a suggestion for foam sheet/block material for use in 63/64s?  Looks like about a 2† thickness, and the modern foam is available in a variety of densities.   Only the bottoms are hard and crumbling; the backs seem ok.  We are planning to remove the hog rings and then the whole seat bottom cover looks like it will slide off towards the front.  Didn’t see a tech article on the site about seats so any learned wisdom is appreciated.
