Re: {Chrysler 300} F license frame

Noel, I can't see any way to move the bumper guards away from their stock position. The only way is to space out the whole bumper. Even if you were to start with a bumper without guards and make new holes, the guards would no longer stand up straight. I got an extra set of the spacers that go between the body and bumper bracket and thinking of putting a thin rubber sheet in between to add some thickness and cushion.

Here is a link to some photos I took for a friend who needs to drill the holes in the bumper for the F he's restoring. https://photos.app.goo.gl/odkUtVj5tWuhCius9

Hi John,

to clarify - I recall another email you circulated a few years ago on this same topic, in which I think your comment was that you spaced the F bumper guards farther back from the stainless trim and rear license plate surround, using shims. In your email today, are you suggesting repositioning the entire rear bumper, or simply the bumper guards?

more on this ,
another heads up .
When restoring an F I always space bumper back 1/2” with metal blocks so that a tap on rear bumper does not tip the bumper guards into the license frame and crack it . factory design error really ,way too close . light tap will break it . Today’s silver Toyota has lower bumpers too . ( most likely to bump you)
While I do get personal preference / keep stock etc , I think it looks a lot better without the bumper guards . They have a tacked on look to me ; a beautiful clean design on F tail . but to each his own . You do not notice bumper space back at all
