Seeking any thoughts on why my fuel gauge won't
work.
The Facts:
- 1962 300 Sport
- Astradome fully restored probably 25 years
ago
- Car has sat for last 8-10 years
- Pulled tank to clean it out & discovered
the sending unit pipe IN was separated from its sending unit housing,
so...
- New Vans Auto Sending Unit installed a month
or so go
- There is approximately 6 gallons in the
tank
The Diagnostics:
- Test Light illuminates at Sending Unit; so
there is power to the wire
- Test Light illuminates at power wire
feed to gauge as well
- Sending Unit has Ohm reading at Sending
Unit
- Fuel Gauge has Ohm reading as
well
- Running an external jumper wire from the body
of the Sending Unit to ground; had no effect on the gauge
- Grounding the Power Wire to the Sending Unit
did NOT make the fuel gauge jump to FULL
Any other thoughts?
I cannot get a reading at the gauge that worked
perfectly 8-10 years ago
Thanks!
