Looking quickly at the specs online, the engine ratings for 1956 - 1958 DeSoto Adventurers were as follows 

1956 -
1957 -
1958 -

There doesn't seem to a Adventurer in 1957. All DeSoto V8s have hydraulic lifters. The hottest DeSoto engine in 1957, the Fireflite, 341CI Hemi with 4bbl. 1956 Adventurer, same engine. 1958 Adventurer, 361ci wedge with 2 4bbl carbs
