Re: [Chrysler300] FW: 300 Emblem

The car shown on page 54 was originally built for Bob Rodger as his personal ride.  If you look at the top of page 51 of the same book you will see the interior of said car.  Also note the unique side trim on this example.

This was owned by the late Bob Cornett of the Lexington area and was for sale along with numerous other cars from his collection after his passing.  I don't know if the car changed hands but have heard nothing about it in several years.  Bottom line on cars like this is when you are that far up the food chain as Bob Rodger was you can get stuff built to your taste.

Page 54 of the book Chrysler 300 America’s Most Powerful Car shows the special order 300C with a round chrome bezel and no side spears. Maybe specially made as well. Looks like the medallion has the C letter.

Dean and all:

This may resolve the mystery of the unlettered side emblem. (Excerpts) Thanks, Jeff.

Hi Rich,

As to the 300 medallion, I have an NOS one of those as well (without the chrome bezel). I got it from Merle Wolfer back in the late '80s, before he sold the 300F Special to Wayne Graefen. The plastic medallion is the exact one used from 1957-'61 on the Chrysler 300 quarter panels, but the holes for the letters weren't drilled. Merle stated at the time that some of these were released in the early-mid 1960s as service replacements once the individual alphabet letters had gone NS-1. In this way the letters could be transferred to the new medallion if desired, yet it didn't look unfinished without the letter. I don't know what the chrome bezel is from, but I suspect it and the medallion were married together to make a display piece at some point. Cool looking piece for sure
