The Great Race this year starts in Riverside, CA on June 22 and ends at America’s Car Museum, Tacoma, WA on June 30. 300 Club members Chad & Jeannie Caldwell have done the race several times, first in 2004 with Chad and his father in his 1958 Chrysler 300D Convertible from Jacksonville, FL to Monterey, CA. https://www.hotrod.com/articles/mopp-1203-1958-chrysler-300d-well-traveled-brute/
This year, Chad and Jennie will be in their 1931 Auburn Boattail Speedster, https://www.greatrace.com/news/auburn-speedster-2.html
After the 2004 Race, Chad had the 300D transported to Portland, OR and had Merle Wolfer store the 300D for Chad until the Chrysler 300 Club, Inc. Meet at Hillsboro, OR in July. After the meet, the following day he entered it in the Forest Grove Concours d’elegance which had a special class for the Chrysler 300 Club Letter Series. Also shown at the meet and at Forest Grove were Gary Goers’ 1958 300D and Cliff Stranberg’s 1957 300C copper brown convertible which had been restored in Sweden and other 300’s.
Check the website for the Great race and say hello to Chad and Jeannie in Car # 31 of the 150 cars entered. They will be Bend, Oregon , Vancouver, WA etc. on their way through Oregon.
Arlys and I have entered our 1957 300C, which we have had since 1958, in the Forest Grove Concours d’ Elegance on July 21, 2019. Now we have newly installed Legendary tan leather seat upholstery and black loop pile carpets. The 300C looks great. It still has the original Copper Brown Metallic paint.
