Re: [Chrysler300] Re: [Chrysler300] John Hertog’s 1961 Dubonette 3 Speed Manual Newport

My 61G has the factory 3 speed manual(police box type) transmission and I love it. Of course, I’ve never owned nor driven any other Brute. So, I guess I also don’t know what I’m missing. It’s also quite rare. While I know some exist, I have not seen another in any of the shows I have ever been to over the years. I also see it as kind of an anti-theft device as most younger folks these days can’t drive a stick. Lol!

We too drove that car. John always treated it as some kind of joke.

I got to drive that car many many years ago. It was great. Very dial Dan and reliable. John brought it to Chrysler Carlisle one year, probably 2007-ish.

Great car and great man. The club was lucky to have him as long as we did.

Hi To All,

Came across an article on manual tranny Chrysler Corp. cars from 1961-1864.

I swear that the Dubonnet Metallic 1961 Newport was the one restored by John Hertog.

It was a bare bones model that Chrysler brought out to compete in the lower price bracket against lesser expensive GM & Ford’s of the world..

3 speed manual on the floor with no power assists.
