Since brakes are a closed hydraulic system, either fliud is
getting past the piston in the master cylinder, or you have a leak in one of the
lines, or at the wheel cylinders in the back or calipers in the front. When
you step on the brake pedal, is it firm or does it gradually sink
?
Black smoke is a different problem. Not related,
