Alone you can retard the dist a little and start it. Better? Try more, or less.

OR

 Loosen the dist.  a little and have someone start it and you slowly turn it toward retard until it smooths out.

You haven't said what was done from when it drove in and now. There may be another problem, think about it and what could have created this Mal-funtion.

This is probably a 2 glass' of wine solution, or maybe the cause...
