Re: [Chrysler300] 300J Removable fender panels

I believe my J is original and the inner fenders and the panels are black on a white car.

I have seen both black and body color, but most “unrestored” I have seen are black. The only factory engine compartment photo, in very low resolution b/w, they appear to be painted black (on a white body). However, in both the 1963 Motor Trend and Car & Driver road test J’s, they are clearly painted body color (both bodies white or alabaster). So, the answer may be, either – depending on how the particular car left the factory. Or, perhaps a running change during the model year but I have no specific evidence to support that conjecture.

Quick question re the removable fender panels on 300 J.

Should they be painted black ? I don't recall ever seeing them painted body color, but have seen some painted black.

Thank you !
