Re: [Chrysler300] Having trouble finding brake shoes for my 57 C

Bill, I have been trying to find my contact but can’t seem to.
Several years got (4?) I was in contact with a transmission shop in Portland which had a brake business also. The owner was a long time letter car person and very knowledgable .
He said he had a stock of the correct asbestos to reline my shoes.
I carefully marked each shoe and I mailed them to him.
I had my drums measured here at a brake shop. Two of them had to be turned, but all 4 were measured,
I emailed the measurements to the shop and after relining, they ground the shoes to the correct diameter.
Curiously enough, there is a USPS Priority box size which exactly contains either one or two axles sets of shoes , and that is how they came home.
It was all very slick. I do no know the shop name but he was independent in Portland and a Chrysler guy.

Hi Bill,

I had our 1957 300C Bra k Shoes relined at:

Ott’s Friction Supply in Portland, It was sold to FleetPride about three years ago. Fleet pride has over 200 locations in the US .

FleetPride Parts & Service,  201 N Columbia Blvd,  Portland OR 97217 (Near I-5)

Phone: (503) 283-4165

Just send them the lining and drums and they will grind the lining to fit the Drums. The best thing for your would be to drive to Portland, since you are about  200 miles away. Use UPS  - 3 day turn around according to the phone call I made today. They have several types of lining, but when they did ours only one type was available.

They are mainly an Industrial supply house and supply truck parts etc.

Bill, if you have any  questions call me at: 503-228-7798.

We are driving our 1957 300C to the WPC National Meet in Tacoma, WA on Aug 16th. thru Aug 20th.

I once asked these folks

AND was told they can reline with a variety of materials, probably even including the ORIGINAL

(porported to be semi-metalic) materials. Or what ever the customer wants!
