Hi Mark,
I rebuilt an early compressor. The only gaskets I could source was the oil
reservoir (pan) gasket. I cut new gaskets for the heads. Very tedious as there
is a narrow separation between the chambers on each head. Then there is the
valve plate between head and case making it even more difficult as you will have
to cut 2 gaskets for each. On my next rebuild I will only flush acetone through
the cylinders a few times until runs clear. If the compressor turns free and
indicates it is pumping I would not disassemble. You can remove pan and check
rods and crank journals and wash out the case with out to much labor. You also
have to consider the crank seal. You may find at Classic Air I listed below.
Years ago I made up a batch of seal conversion to late seal that is easy to
find. I no longer have kits. You can make a conversion with out to much pain, I
think. I would have revisit what I did. Could make a good web site tutorial that
would show step by step conversion.

Subject: Re: [Chrysler300] 300F A/C Compressor
Gaskets
Hi all - does anyone have a source for a gasket kit for the pre-1961 a/c
compressors? I checked with Jeff Carter, he doesn't have them. I did get a brush
kit from Jeff, so while the clutch is off and unit is out of the car, it would
make sense to update the gaskets as well. Thanks.
