Subject: [Chrysler300] Need shifter cable for 1957 300C

Hello All -

The transmission shifter cable in my 1957 300C has a LOT of internal
drag and quite often the transmission will not go into the gear selected
(particularly Reverse), or the previously selected button will not
reliably pop back out from the pushbutton box. That push-button unit
has been removed and thoroughly cleaned and adjusted and moves quite
freely by itself, and the parts inside the newly-rebuilt transmission
also move freely when manipulated with a thin screwdriver, so we are
pretty certain the problem is within the cable and housing itself. I
suspect there may be a lot of old, hardened grease inside the housing,
but I'm not getting any relief by trying to get penetrating oil or
solvent in there to free up the cable.

Any suggestions for how or where to get that cable/housing reliably
repaired, rebuilt (or replaced if necessary)? I see a guy on eBay
offering a new cable for ~ $300, and another offering a used one for ~
$200. Does anyone know where I might get a new replacement at a
reasonable price, or a real good used one?
