Re: [Chrysler300] Evaluation of 300G for sale on eBay

Hi Ron,
That's what we show on the VIN list as a previous owner.  We also show it came as a Powerflite and was converted to a Torqueflite later.  Red appears to be correct for that car.

From the auction description: "A previous owner, former General Motors Vice Chairman Robert Lutz, exercised this powerful and elegant automobile to the fullest when he successfully drove it in the 1996 California Mille."

Has this been documented by the club or anywhere else ? I did a google search and found nothing.

Hello everyone.

Has anyone seen or knows the C-300 being sold by Gooding in Scottsdale or is anyone going there that can inspect it and comment?

Thank you all for your help.

After reading the glowing and extensively detailed description offered by the seller, and looking at all the pictures (admittedly through my eyes completely untrained and unqualified in evaluating this particular car),  all I can say is WOW! --  We in the Club are  SO FORTUNATE to have such detail-oriented experts as have commented on even the tiniest discrepancies on this car!  You guys are AMAZING!  And being called anal-retentive is considered a compliment - hope you take it that way!  Someday soon I hope to bring my own  300C  (four-year restoration) at one of the Club meetings, where it can be inspected and evaluated by experts on my particular car -- and I really want to take every criticism as a positive comment; I prefer to call them "Opportunities for Improvement!"

Here is what I saw on this car.

The glowing description doesn’t match the pictures of the car! Here is what a found with a quick look.

62 headlight bezels

Wipers don’t park

62 grille medallion

Front bumper alignment sucks

Body plugs under trunk lid painted, and is that mouse nest hanging out of one of the holes?

Wrong trunk carpet and boards

Chrysler letters on trunk not painted

Wrong fan belts

A/C tag missing, and converted to 134

Wrong jiffy jet bag, and bracket painted

Data tag suspicions, and vin tag riveted on

Electric chokes

Rams painted with carbs on- overspray

Wrong coil

Routing of heater hoses- no bracket at coil

Plug wires wrong

Battery hold down wrong

Wrong hose clamps

Dirty carpet

Worn pedal pads and wrong emergency brake pad

Console trim scratched, and screw through center of ribbed portion

No gap fillers on doors or quarters

No light shields for buttons

No bottom of car pictures, who knows what else is hidden

It took longer to write this out than to look at it. Buyer beware. But whoever buys it, I’ll bet all his friends will OOH and AAH over his pretty red car.

The Mardi Gras Red G is still listed on Ebay with description of data plate that shows it was originally White. Present price $25,655 with reserve not being met.

It is being sold by a dealer and may also being sold on "bring your trailer". JH...

It’s a G coupe. Mardi Gras red is a color change from original white. Looks to be driver quality in the photos. It has been on ebay recently.

Bring A Trailer has a Mardi Gras a/c coupe selling in three hours.  Looks good enough for somebody to consider.  High bid was but 29.5 a few minutes ago.  Might be a bargain.
