The only engine available in the 300L was the 413. Period.
It would be interesting to see the data plate up close. Under the row
of letter codes the A and B have the codes for the engine. The codes are
99 under the AB. I have quite a large collection of data plate codes that
I have decoded for the owners. Almost all have 99 for the engine. A
very few have 71. Have no idea why the 71 was on some because it was
the same engine. For all practical purposes, 99 is the code, which denotes
the 413 high performance engine.
Again, no other option was available. None.
