RE: [Chrysler300] G feature

I may have an interior from a 4 spd F I bought about same time, prior to 1980. F Seats were hung in a barn in nice, wealthy part of Ct, had the square port for shifter, trim around that /bezel matched ash tray trim. Factory looking stuff. Had two perfectly cut (as in punched/aligned ) holes for added SW type gauges near tach. All looked factory. The car had all anodized shiny aluminum lower seat trim, not the black plastic. I have tried, yet several times, to get anything at all on all this, people say someone made it. No way. The anodized aluminum seat bottom trim has the same embossed lines as the black ones. Some kind of prototype? At the time I just wanted nice F seats for another F, bought the pile, thought someone did all this, silver bottom some kind of optional Chrysler trim. . Guy I bought it from said the car hit a tree, was “gone “ but he pulled “gorgeous seats and console etc”, from it” before the car wreck remains left . No interest in 300’s just :nice seats” Maybe the rest of that car went to someone else , after the ram engine …..they were simply not that valuable in 70’s /80’s . I bought an F convert for 150$ in Newark NJ once. Superfly headlights and all.

Yes Frank is quite a character…

Hi John,

I've known Frank for some time. Quite a character. Used to have a small dachshund dog with him all the time. I don't believe he was connected in any way to Robert in Lexington and the black G I saw, but one never knows. Last time I spoke with Frank, he said he had found some info on possibly the last remaining unfound 4 speed F somewhere in upstate NY. It was in a front end collision and was sitting in someone's back yard rusting away. I couldn't get any details out of him beyond that, as he wanted to keep it a secret until he could potentially get the funds together to buy it. Amazing how many old stories are around.

Guy in Leominster might own a body shop? Pride Auto body? Good guy, he painted an Olds low mileage cutlass convert black, that I got on an estate deal for 2k. I somehow met him through the 300 club. Maybe in early 80’s . Why I respond to this, is I bought a G convert , black from Frank Salamone, I think part of divorce hassle, who --after I paid for it, but before I picked it up, moved it to another location. Big surprise for me, opened an empty garage, my trailer at the curb, house for sale, no one home. Where is my G?

I found his father, by phonebook, an old tough Italian good guy, in Waltham who started yelling about “Damn Frankie” –then “I’ll take care of this” and car showed up a week later. (whew) . No words spoken.

Saw Frankie many years later, in another non car context, he was after a G convert again.

I think I repainted it with black Imron (the hot set up then) ,and then really disliked the look of black Imron. It looked like those home plastic top bars with money in the plastic. So I sold it . Might be same car…Garage with no G was in Maynard mass. Pride Autobody moved , within Leominster, I think , I see him in other Mopar stuff at times. His name (Pride) might have been Dennis?

All anecdotal, no time to research all that….small world…

Not much of a 300G story, but maybe someone can turn it into one? Back more than just a few years ago (certainly in the 90's), there was a guy named Robert who lived in a big old house with his mother (his mother's house I believe) in Lexington MA. He had placed an ad in what was a popular weekly publication called The WantAdvertiser for a 300G for only $1500. Of course, I was away on a business trip when this particular edition came out, so when I called about the vehicle I was told it had been sold to a guy in Leominster, MA.

I talked to him long enough to find two pieces of information:

1. The name and phone number of the person who bought the car, and

2. That he also had a black 300G convertible that he did not advertise.

I tracked down the guy in Leominster, who had learned that the rusty G was going to be too much of a restoration for him to accomplish, even though it was a running driving car. I went for a ride in it, and it was indeed a pretty rusty New England car, but in running condition. The guy who bought it wanted to double his money on the flip, so I passed on it.

I then went to visit Robert in Lexington to check out his black G convertible, which turned out to have a black interior and black top. His live-in girlfriend was sunbathing in the backyard as I pulled in (embarrassing) only about 20 feet away from the driveway where the G was parked. Unfortunately, he was not interested in selling the convertible, as it was his only remaining G. I checked in/bugged him about the car for almost a year afterwards, hoping he would change his mind since he was obviously not going to restore it, having no money of his own and just hanging out at mom's house. After that I lost track of him and the vehicle and move on as I found a G couple in Colorado and eventually my current G convertible. I never got either VIN number for the cars, so I don't know if they are now fabulously restored somewhere, rusted away to nothing, or somewhere in between. If anyone knows of these cars, it would be interesting to find out what eventually happened to them.

Happy New Year everyone in 300 land!

We need some 300-G stories. We have a couple in and yes I will write one. We need more, long or short. You know the drill.

Please include a photo or more. Please do not embed the photo in a document, send as a separate attachment. Or by US Mail.

Be a part of 300 history. I'll need these in three weeks: January 25

Thanks,
